suppose some of thats partially due to the fact the bulk of time he was in the elite and earning big minimum points compared to to others.

a games won in 2011 would be an interesting one (any takers haha) to see and im sure would throw up some very different and surprising results.

no offence but the likes of Hendry in 18th just shows me all the more that going down the last 128 flat qualifying set up is the way to go. The current rolling rankings are better but Hendry the 18th best player in 2011 according to the rankings proves that anomalies still exist thanks to the element of over protection the teired system offers.

yeah thats partially true however it did sod all to Peter Ebdon having minimum points....

Yeah, but I can´t see Hendry someone who would be too much bothered about his ranking. Obviously same with O`Sullivan. It´s like every evening you go to sleep, you "die". Then you wake up next morning and you are reborn.

Personally would love to see both Hendry and O`Sullivan back in top-5. I am almost sure O`Sullivan will be pretty soon now that seems like Tour has shapened up. O´Sullivan has just missed so many tournaments during the last few years because the changes going through. And players love playing against Hendry because he´s such a player. Always attacking long reds, and then if he get´s in millimeter precise break-building starts. Matches involving Hendry are just always something to look forward snooker wise.

He didn't lose very many first round games in 2011....1 I think.

yeh he won last 32 matches in Germany, Wales, China and Worlds, also this season in Australia but then lost in last 32 in Shanghai before winning qualifier for UK before losing in last 32.

So bar the Shanghai game plus the Germany qualifier to Wattana which counts in 2012s points <doh> he only lost 1 opening match in the main rankers

When you look at players that beat him in the main tiered rankers of 2011

German Masters Mark Selby 5-3 Runner Up
Welsh Open Stephen Maguire 4-2 Runner up
China Open Ding Junhui 5-2 Semi Finalist
World Champs Mark Selby 13-4 Quarter Finalist
Australian Open Matt Selt 5-1 Quarter Finalist That was a big blip even though selt beat higgins
Shanghai Masters Robert Milkins 5-1 Last 16 Another Blip
UK Championship Stephen Maguire 6-3 Quarter Finalist

the biggest disapointment was getting Hammered by Pinky and Perky in Australia and Shanghai.

2 crushing defeats that ultimately cost him his top 16 spot. It was 5-1 Wattana pumped him too in the German qualifiers wasnt it.

To be honest its alright saying he lost to some top players but if you lose in the last 16 as a seed then odds are your gonna be facing a top player and lets face it, were there any of these defeats he seriously threatened to actually win?

Re: ONE YEAR RANKINGS FOR 2011

yea you right he cant go on like that now as a 17 to 32 player he needs to now win 2 matches consistantly or he drops down ferther.

yeh its fairly straightforward

regardless of where your seeded if you always go out in the last 16 then odds are your gonna be in the top 16 but near the trapdoor

and if you always go out in the last 32 (round 1) then likewise your gonna be in the top 32 but nearer 33rd than 16th ultimately.

oon
Thanks Witz,Glad to see Ronnie is still in top 16.I expect him to be inside top 10 very soon.He is too good not to be. :hatoff:

I also expect Mark Allen to rise and Trump to be new world no.1,Selby does not take enough risks to stay there. His failure to dominate comes down to his continual erring on the side of caution when it comes down to risk management in his game imo.

Martin Gould will be top 5 very soon i feel.

John Higgins will deteriate along with Williams,The latter's attitude is jaded,The former is beginning to fail noticably imo.

Well done Witz <ok> Vey interestingly poised set of ranking results.
