98 was the last time someone won event before the Worlds and then went on to lift the WC. It will have to end at some stage but I do think the better players often have their eye on Sheffield

Higgins reached the final in China, didn't do him much harm. I know it's not the be all and end all if you do badly in China but i'm just saying there's no magical mystery barrier for China winners in Sheffield like GJ's made out in the past.
