Yes, nearly wins the UK because it was that bad

The fact he had a mental block with long reds to the bottom left as he played in several frames against Murphy does not cancel out his career. The fact he got there with a top break of 83 and only one other break over 80 says he took on and got a lot of crucial pots of very high intrinsic difficulty. We all saw the final and we all know how jaw dropping some of his potting was in that match. He is the best potter of the last decade by a mile.

for me the most consistent brilliant potting of the year for me has been Martin Gould
