Depends on the game...........
A single frame.....I'll play anyone but the stakes would vary depending on who my opponent is I'd be willing to have a go with Ronnie at something simple like 20 a frame and quit if I got $500 down. Money well spent and it wouldn't be quick, I will pick some frames off him
Really it depends on my playing regularly. If I get 10-15hrs of good practice/play per week I'd step out and play anyone short matches like best of 5 or 7. Matches like that for 100-200 against a tough player are great motivators for me. I raise my game, it brings that extra level of focus that I can't find otherwise these days.
Money's a good motivator for a lot of people but for me it's not just money that I need to get into it, I've got to be playing against someone who's top notch. For those games playing the better player and not embarassing myself motivates me more than money could.
I'd gladly lose a few hundred to play a match against Ronnie, John, Stephen, etc. it'd be worth it no matter what the outcome
Now.....who do I like my chances against inside the top 16 .......I'd think I'd go with......nope, can't do it . I don't play enough these days to have the arrogance necessary to like my chances against any top 16 player
Maybe 6 red matches. I'd be a coin flip fav against a top player, you don't have to sustain your focus as long so it'd be my best odds these days
