It's an interesting take. I know when I play on a rubbish pool table I can get beat more easily by lesser players. It is a leveller for sure.

It's true what he's saying.
If you had a red behind the black just off the cushion, that should be a difficult shot. Probably a trickle in if you decide to go for it. In China they were banging them in like shelling peas. Firm shots. Stun, screw and side for position. Everything.
Can it really be that difficult to get the pockets the same all the time? At least within a small margin of error.
In pro snooker you can go from buckets to mouses ears and back again.
I like Neil Robertson. But, even if I didn't, I would still agree with him on this.

Synopsis of Neil Robertson's Book of Excuses - pages 816-817:
The pockets are too big
I had flu
I still had flu for the next tournament
I played cricket and got injured, so was ill for the tournament after that
The airport staff lost my cue, but then it arrived on time
I've not spent Christmas in Australia since 2009

You’d think bigger pockets would be to his benefit at the moment to be honest.

yeah, if the pockets are genuinely more forgiving then this would tend to reduce the performance difference between the players and marginally favour the weaker players relative to standard pockets.
so seems fair enough.

And not simply in making the pots easier. Position doesn’t have to be as tight if the pots are easier. So the overall standard required to get in and clear up isn’t as high.

The first few days in the international championship where ridiculous, century after century, the British open was the opposite, the selby match was ridiculously tight

He was ill at the UK last year, saw it live, he seemed pretty rough.

Is it within the rules for China snooker to make pockets more forgiving, leading more high breaks and players feeling more confident on difficult shots.Everyone I've spoke to said pockets looked a different profile to ones played elsewhere.if China snooker are trying to convince people that players play better there because conditions and venues are better its worries me, be like playing football with goals 6 foot wider.
