He wasn't right, John Williams was 100% correct.

Oh, what have I misinterpreted then? how come Selby gets to take 6 1/2 minutes to take one shot without anyone saying a word?
I thought the referee could warn players for slow play fair enough but this was just a safety exchange so no selby like tactics being deployed so seems harsh after 10 minutes? bearing in mind gilbert and O'Brien were on the colours for almost 2 hours in qualifying for the WC whereas this was the actual WC so they were playing for even more money than gilbert/O'Brien were!

Guess this ref perhaps just had a set of balls on him and used his powers that the rules give him! Selby lucky that this ref was retired by the time he turned pro, this guy would have stamped out his cheating tactics very quickly! doubt he would have the record he does if all the refs clamped down on his cheating.

The Selby incident was well discussed before, and most people didn't agree that the referee said nothing.
As for this WT situation, 10 minutes tip tapping would be more than enough for the referee to step in and give them a certain number of shots to resolve the situation, and in this case the referee even gave them 8 shots each.

Haven't seen any of todays refs ever step in and give players any directive such as that, not saying it doesn't or hasn't happened, just never personally seen it.

Were the ones that agreed with the ref saying nothing for 61/2 minutes sectioned shortly there after? what would the rationale be for taking that long ever being acceptable?

Sorry I mean "gamesmanship" AKA "cheating"

It's happened more times than you think.

Cheats should be drummed out of the game.
If you're convinced that Mark Selby cheats why not submit a dossier to WST/WPBSA rather than post on this forum?
Otherwise perhaps you'd do the decent thing and unconditionally withdraw your allegation.

Didn’t it happen in a match between Judd and Allen like literally last year or something?

Gamesmanship is cheating just by a different name, that’s why he gets away with it.
So I stand by my opinion that he uses gamesmanship in an attempt to gain an advantage, it’s unsportsmanlike, it’s kind of semantics, it’s the same outcome in the end.

The referee on that instance was Leo Scullion; that should tell you everything!

Was the controversial incident that Hicks while still short wasn't bald? Wonder what Quinten Hann thought about it.
