Yes, Trump got 1752 while Higgins got 1685, and while perhaps counter-intuitive, that is the way it should be.

Trump was lower down the rankings, meaning he had to play more matches and face tougher opponents than the higher ranked Higgins. The level of difficulty in his run was therefore higher and resulted in him getting more points.
When you consider it further, becoming the World Championship runner-up demonstrated that Trump's ranking prior to the tournament was too low, and so the points system compensated for this and ensured he moved up accordingly. His overall points total and ranking nevertheless remained below World Champion Higgins.
Furthermore, you may think that these 'extra' points would benefit Trump unfairly later on, but the system also compensates for this by reducing the value of the points gradually over time.

Thank you for the detailed reply.

Another thing I have noticed from your first post on the other thread is you said The World Championship was weighted too heavily in the current Ranking system, and yet Judd's 3rd highest scoring tournament was the 2015 World Championship.

So it seems to me that your system rates the World Championship even more heavily than the current system.

This is an excellent observation and you have a very good point. It seems I may have been wrong to say the WC is weighted too heavily in the official rankings.

I hope not but I'd prefer him to win it over Ronnie and Selby.

Just caught up on this, I’m with Johnny Bravo, no way should Robbo be outside the top ten and below Thorburn (someone did say that would cause a stir!). Would love to see Steve top this too, but somehow think it will be Stephen. Really enjoyed this thread Chengdufan, good job! Except for the Robbo bit :)

ChegduFan did a fantastic work with this list, but he only took into account the best 10 year period from a player's career, which makes the result a bit skewed, since some competed in a weak era, with a much lower level of play.

Hendry no.2, no way! I blame OpenOffice, not as good as the real thing! But means no.1 might be who I hoped it would be! The guy I grew up watching as a kid winning matches like Robbo is doing now. As I said before, really enjoyed this thread Chengdufan, amazing job!

By my reckoning, Ronnie needs about another two years at number one to catch Hendry. Unlikely, but not impossible. If he wins the World Championship this year, his chances increase significantly.

grew up in the Davis dominance. He did seem to win everything but still surprised he beat Hendry.

(unless it is Bagley)
