Surprised how easily Jimmy is winning this one. Spencer was undoubtedly the best player in the world between 1969 and 72, maybe even from 1966. Three times a world Champion and the first ever Masters Champion. He made 3 centuries in 4 frames during the 1971 World Final, using the old crystalate balls - quite possibly the most remarkable break building feat ever. He revolutionised the game with his prodigious use of screw and side. Absolute legend.

I love Jimmy but voted John. His contribution to the game is sadly overlooked but the old-timers will always be second best viewed through modern eyes, sadly
