This was the first event to be severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. A number of players and referees withdrew from participation and fans were not allowed into the arena after the first round.
Judd Trump won the event claiming his sixth ranking title of the season, a record number. He played out a high-quality final with Kyren Wilson. There were 4 century breaks, including a 144 from Trump, and two other 50+ breaks. It was a close match throughout and ended 4-3.
Amine Amiri produced the biggest shock of the competition by winning a match (previously he had not won a single frame). It should be noted though that the match win was against an amateur qualifier.
