Shaun Murphy won his second ranking title. He beat Ryan Day in the final, Day having reached that stage for the first time. Murphy led 7-1 before completing a 9-4 victory.
The top two players, O'Sullivan and Higgins, both lost 5-3 in the first round. O'Sullivan was beaten by Michael Holt, while Higgins lost to Marco Fu.
