The top 16 in the 1-year rankings took part.

John Higgins produced a week of nearly flawless snooker to win this one. I mean Selby was whitewashed 6-0 and only managed to score seven points for crying out loud. Ridiculous.

It was The Wizard's first ranking event win since the 2018 Welsh Open.

2021 Gibraltar Open - Marshall Arena, Milton Keynes

For a third time this season we had a Trump Lisowski final in Milton Keynes. Trump won again, 4-0 this time, taking his tally of ranking event wins to 22. This puts him level with Mark Williams.

We had the long awaited return of Stephen Hendry. He only won one frame, but what a frame it was, knocking in a century like it was 20 years ago!

Stuart Carrington reached his second career semi-final (the previous one being the 2018 Riga Masters).

Mark Selby was knocked out by Chris Waklin in the last 32, while Neil Robertson lost to Lei Peifan in the opening round.

Jimmy White had his best run in years, beating Stuart Bingham in reaching the last 16. I have had a ten minute search but can't find the last time he got that far.

QFs
Judd Trump (1) 4-0 Mark Allen (11)

2021 British Open - Morningside Arena, Leicester
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021_British_Open

Mark Williams beat Gary Wilson in the final.

There were returns to form for Wilson and Jimmy Robertson who had both been through a rather barren spell. Robertson beat Stephen Maguire on his way to the semi-finals.

Despite the best-of-5 format for the majority of the event, there were two maximum breaks compiled, one from Higgins and another from Carter.

Judd Trump lost to Elliott Slessor, while Mark Selby was knocked out by Ali Carter.

QFs
Jimmy Robertson (65) 4-2 Lu Ning (34)
Elliott Slessor (62) 4-3 Zhou Yuelong (18)
Mark Williams (11) 4-3 Ricky Walden (26)
Gary Wilson (57) 4-3 David Gilbert (21)

SFs
Wilson (57) 4-3 Slessor (62)
Williams (11) 4-1 Robertson (65)

Final
Williams (11) 6-4 Wilson (57)

Yes, it feels good to have made it to the present day rankings!!
I still have to put the scores in for the recent qualifiers of course, but the rankings won't be updated again until the next ranking event finishes, most likely the NI Open.

I'm very excited now about getting to work on my next big project, an all-time ranking list based on the rankings I've created.
