Mark Williams won his 18th ranking title and moved back to the number one spot in these rankings as a result.
It was a good event for Joe Swail. It's not long since he was a top 16 player, but he has slipped way down the rankings in the last year or two. In Berlin he made it to the quarter-finals having beaten 3 top-16 players, Martin Gould, Mark Allen and Shaun Murphy.
Higgins and O'Sullivan both withdrew from the event. Higgins before his second round match due to an impending family bereavement.
