2014 International Championship - Sichuan International Tennis Center, Chengdu
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_Inte ... ampionshipI went to the first day of this and watched an awful match between Stuart Bingham and Robbie Williams, and a barnstorming performance from Michael White as he whitewashed Aditya Mehta in double-quick time. The venue was out in the sticks, pretty far from the city, and my daughter was only 18 months old, so I didn't go to the weekday games after my work day finished, and the finals weekend was a bit out of my price range.
At the time, I thought I would have plenty more chances to go in the future, but alas this was to be the last year the event was held in Chengdu
Ricky Walden won his third ranking title. It was a closely fought final with Mark Allen up to 7-7, but then Walden won the next three with breaks of 85, 103, and 54 and 62 to seal a 10-7 victory.
Zhao Xintong yet again won his wildcard match and then his first round match. This time beating Jamie Jones and Kurt Maflin. It's remarkable givent he results he has had that he has not turned professional yet.
Li Hang thrashed John Higgins 6-1 in the first round. The Wizard has had a very poor run of results of late and drops out of the top 16 following this tournament.
Number 1 Mark Selby and defending champion Ding Junhui both lost in qualifying, Selby to Oliver Lines and Ding to Wang Zepeng.
