After qualifying, he beat the likes of Stephen Hendry. Neil Robertson, Steve Davis and Mark Selby. Quite a run! He would also go on to win the inaugural 6-reds World Championship in Thailand in December.
Graeme Dott pulled out of this (and the next event, the Grand Prix) because of a broken arm sustained while playing football.
After beating Jamie Burnett in qualifying, at the venue Jamie Cope lost his first match 5-2 to Mark Williams. Despite only winning 2 frames, he was able to compile a 147.
