Re: Shaun Murphy wants spotted cue ball

As Iranu said it looks messy - cheap in fact and better suited to 9-ball pool. I don’t even like to see it in billiards.

This whole thing is just Smurph making out he’s doing his bit like a good missionary spreading the snooker gospel.

That was kind of my opinion, but I don't play.

Does it make it easier for players when lining up a shot, or something? If so, I guess you could argue that takes some of the skill out of the game.

But I don't think it's something I'd lose sleep over.

No it doesn't help at all for that, but you see the spin applied.

So, it's more for the interest of the people watching?

Yes.

I play a lot of drag shots in pool, and this is fun to watch - halfway through it's journey the back spin flips to forward spin

BULL........ :td:
Plus, it will only have a few spots, not 1000, so it won't be so crowded by spots that they become a distraction

I know what a spotted ball looks like (ooh err). I still don't think it's a visual fit for snooker. It works for pool as the other balls tend to be a bit busier anyway.

I think the clean, classy look of snooker is something that's often under appreciated.

Personally I think leave it to pool.

Snooker fans understand what's required to make a cue ball do what it does, they don't need spots to show them.

Excellent training aid if you're having trouble with unwanted side but keep it on the practice table. <ok>
