As a long term Ronnie fan, am I struggling with this a bit.
He's literally being paid to say and dress whatever the Saudi's want. 'The world cup here will be the best ever' he has just said in a clip for ES.
And him sat at that presser with a keffiyeh on his head, is this showing respect to Saudi or is he just doing what the Saudis want, for money?
Is he a shill, or is he growing and bringing more money into our beloved sport? And if it wasn't him, would it have been one of the other top players anyway?
Conflicted of Valencia.

Closer to shill than ambassador.
But, who knows with Ronnie? He talks so much garbage that saying he loves this tournament might actually be his genuine opinion. He's always on about big money opportunities, and this is certainly one of those. And as Manty pointed out, such is the affect on his ranking that winning this will give him choices to pick and choose what other tournaments he enters without having to worry too much about the ITV events either.
It wouldn't amaze me if they'd brown enveloped him to suck up to the Saudi tournaments. It also wouldn't amaze me if it was just more superb snooker analysis from the man who once said Power Snooker was a better tournament than the World Championship.
It doesn't paint him in a great light, put it like that. But a lot of stuff he says makes him look a bit of a div, let's be honest.

Of course he and other players are being brown enveloped. Just see Judd's comments about the atmosphere being similar to the Crucible. He was probably reading from a script.

It wouldn't surprise me if Ronnie playing along was part of the deal which made it happen in the first place.

Tbh Ronnie’s attitude to Saudi is no different than his attitude to China.

Indeed, and Barry's smarmy comments about 'ask your new Saudi Ambassador about it.'
He's wearing a Riyadh Season logo at all times.

He can. Hence why there’s an option to vote so.

It’s hard to imagine otherwise. They’ve procured Ronnie for a decade, which was probably always a key priority. Big names make the whole charade much easier to pull off.
