Perrie Mans RIP

Postby Muller

I haven't posted on here in ages but still visit from time to time.

Quite surprised the the passing of Perrie Mans has gone unmarked on here, passed away a few months back, aged 82.

Only found out myself a few days back.

It’s probably a case of a lot of us not quite being old enough to really remember him. I’ve been watching snooker since the mid to late 80s, which is still quite a long time ago, and I don’t really remember much about him.

He did get a mention in the RIP thread, at the very least.

I put it on the RIP thread, I’m sure.

But I am one of the older posters here who remember wataching him in his prime. In fact, my very first cue was endorsed by him.

His name was actually correctly spelt ‘Pierrie’ but got anglicised. It should have been pronounced ‘Peeerie’, but only Clive Everton ever did so correctly.

I remember when Perrie Mans won a big televised tournament without ever making a break over 50.

Those were the days. :-)
