Doing nothing achieves exactly nothing. However, I'm not suggestiong that.
What I am suggesting is why not have immediate action? Summon the player within 48/72 hours once the issue is known, explain to the player the situation & the accusations, if any, the player goes under oath & understands that his answers will be used in the investigation that follows? This way, it establishes lies, removes ambiguity & everyone knows where they stand & the board make a decision then with a full inquiry to follow.
You can't take people's livelihoods away from that if they haven't been found guilty of anything. Especially in this instance.

Sadly, John, he was found guilty.
Guilty of being in a circumstance allowing for him to be seen as "guilty".
This whole thing is about appearances.
And snooker cannot afford to be seen as anything but lily-white and willing to act on any charges immediately
within it's bylaws. Now, especially because of their betting sponsors.
Hearn had no choice.

When was the toast or what was it for? it could have been at the start of the meeting or for setting up a new event.
Did he look uncomfortable? Yes at times, no more so when the reporter said 'frame 3'. John's response was then doctored by the NOTW was was proved by the sporting intelligence

Let's quit the speculation for now until we know the facts.
