Two recent snooker matches investigated
Unusual betting patterns on two Shanghai Masters qualifying matches played in Doncaster are to be examined by snooker's governing body.
Scot Ross Muir beat Thanawat Tirapongpaiboon, of Thailand, 5-0, while Egyptian Mohamed Khairy defeated Thai player Passakorn Suwannawat 5-4 at the Doncaster Dome on Wednesday.
"We are liaising with the Gambling Commission to establish the available facts about betting on these matches," said a World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association spokesman.
I hope Thanawat Tirapongpaiboon and Passakorn Suwannawat make it to the final of a ranking event. The commentators will have a task saying their names correctly!
Rumour has it the Chinese equivalent of John Higgin's name is Jonawat Higginpongdongalong.
