I hope World Snooker don’t waste another tour card on Hendry. I dislike the idea of these four cards anyway, so I’d gladly see the whole system scrapped. Have everyone qualify, so that way you know the people on tour actually want to be there and got there by merit.

My understanding is that he just didn’t want to enter them.

there were some where he hadn't practiced enough and so wasn't prepared, there was one where he screwed up the online entry form and missed the deadline, one where he was doing punditry for the telly, and one where the dog ate his snooker cue.

Wasn’t there one where he went to Barnsley, and the tournament was somewhere else?
Or am I confusing him with someone else?

World Snooker simply gave him one cause he's a big name for the sport, and they are hoping his presence will boost up sales or something.
But I agree with you, it's a wasted tour card.
