who the hell would promote their club with a scummy parakeet ????

Promotion is a strange business mate...

It's like in parenting... you can be a good EXAMPLE or a fair WARNING
and be surprisingly effective with both!
On one hand you could use Steve Davis or Stephen Hendry on the other, now, the two Higgins'.
If you can't make up your mind go with Ronnie.

Both work. Just a matter of how black your humour is.

And I stress "humour" as being like the "beer" in this quote I throw down for Sonny boy.

Frank Zappa wrote:You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline.
It helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons,
but at the very least you need a beer.

You can try to deny it all you like, and you probably will, but he would still pull in massive audiences because he's such a quality player.

Re: ALL BETS ARE OFF

BTW i don't want this discussion to focus on Higgins im generalizing the rights and wrongs of a player doing it nothing specific.

quality dies with cheating bourne id prefer to pay to watch a honest 25 break player scratching about than a 147 quality parakeet

You're a drop in the ocean then. I'm with you, it's the same for any player if they're guilty, they should get punished accordingly. But life goes on, he has to make a living and there would be demand for his appearance.

Re: ALL BETS ARE OFF

regarding higgins i think theres a lot to come out in the wash we dont know about so i do not want to focus on that case but what i will say David Douglass has been appointed now after this case he wont go away he will be looking at other matches thats happened and future matches to totally rid this sport of anything dodgy no matter how small it was or will be. to quote hearn snooker is going to be whiter than white.

Anyone know if this is done or has been an issue in other sports like... say... golf or tennis or in games like darts?

I've never heard of that exact sort of bet in tennis but match fixing does occur, definitely.

My bet is that as a condition of Betfred and other possible sponsors assuring the future of snooker
Hearn had to agree to sacrifice publicly a big name fall guy for the sport and rid snooker of any slightly
sketchy players that the NOTW or other muckrackers could possibly ferret out in the future.
Why else would he bring in "The Good Cop" Douglas?

Whether he was pushed from behind or stepped out all on his own... The Story is clearly Higgins crossed the line.

Sinead.

Now you've done it.
She's one of the loves of my musiclife!
I saw her a year or so ago here in Toronto at Massey Hall.
While her bald drop dead gorgeous beauty had aged... her voice had mellowed and richened and her
maturity was astonishingly expressive... better than I had remembered her back in 1989
when I accidentally bumped into her on a small dance floor in a tiny club here in Toronto.
I can PM you that story if you like.
For me she is Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Edith Piaf, Annie Lennox, Rose McGowan, Mary Margaret O'Hara, etc. X 2.

and this is why....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1I-Xwxbm ... re=related

This is my favourite of hers... here sung acapella live. I remember a version in which she did a similar
acapella that all of a sudden busted into the music for the recorded song on a ghetto blaster and she
danced (as on the grave) in Doc Martens... I wish I could find that work of art!

I have faithfully loved all her work forever it seems.

Stunning Lady. Touching I'd go as far as to say.
Obviously very clever with it, as I forgot, & only started to remember, what the words of this song meant about a month ago when I heard it again....Sinead O'Connor - The Emperor's New Clothes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3c0jxooNClM&NR=1

My wife met her a good few years ago first, met since, so soft & sound. Incredible strength.

Feel Free.
