Clue: It's a player that has won multiple ranking titles and won 5 ranking titles in a season once.

It’s an equation. Best clue I can give is work out how ‘Ding’ can become ‘eat’, then go from there. The x represents another snooker player. Apply the same rule used to turn ‘Ding’ into ‘eat’. I’d like his name.

Not King. You’re kind of on the right track, but not quite. If ‘dining’ was correct the equation would say ‘eating’, rather than ‘eat’. But it doesn’t. Pretty sure it’s simple to solve from here.

Ding = Dine = Eat
x = Adore
Solve x
I’ve solved part of the equation to make it a bit easier.
x is another player.

Nope.
Look specifically how the word ‘Ding’ adapts. This rule applies identically to solve x.

If Pang or Tian pick up the trophy tomorrow, they will become the latest player with one ranking title to their name.
Which player has the same number of ranking titles as all of the 1-time winners + Pang or Tian combined?

You folks have underestimated how many one-time ranking event winners there are.
