Could it have been Euan Henderson?
I seem to remember he did almost nothing of any note as a pro', except getting to one Ranking Final, where he lost to an equally surprise finalist, which given it was his first Ranking Title, Williams could have been considered to be at the time. It was around '96 as well, which would fit I think...

Q: In 2003, Jimmy White won his first title on Sky Sports for over a decade, along with a first prize of 80k, for winning what title?

The Players Championship was indeed in 2004, but Jimmy won an event in 2003 which was largely overlooked by the snooker press ....
So, yeah, this is another thinking outside the box question.

Is this your attempt to upload my Twitter cartoons (I didn't draw them, I should point out)?
If so, thanks for trying

On Sky Sports? It wasn't any kind of 'reality' show.

Was he part of a Mosconi Cup winning team, perhaps securing the victory?

No, this was an individual event.
The tournament name doesn't have to be exact - something in the right area will do.
Just to add to the confusion ... In celebration of his victory, Jimmy released a charity single with Steve Monti (from Ian Dury and the Blockheads) called 'Minted'.

Argh. Teitter does something funny to it's images converting them into strange files which our archaic site doesn't understand. But wait. I have a workaround.

Looks like a clue is in order.
Apart from Steve Davis and Jimmy White, no other snooker or pool players entered the competition that year.

There was a table involved, but no balls or cues.
The tournament ran in stages from January to March 2003.

HC has got it. The 2003 Ladbrokes Poker Million. White won $150k US Dollars, which converted to about 80 or 85k at the time, so I think the headline is off, but Davis also did pretty well.
I'll save printing the lyrics of 'Minted' for another time.
