it is based on singles chart. no albums.
Well, yes. But usually you’ll hear about a song “reaching its highest ever chart position” for example, when it goes from say number 15 to number 2. So it’s a good job I checked.

5, 6 and 10. Amended before further entries. Hope that’s ok.

"You're History" is Shakespear's Sister (unsure if the spelling mistake was deliberate or not), the band Siobhan Fahey formed after leaving Bananarama. "Pyjamarama" is Roxy Music. And I think "I Surrender" was a rock band from the early 1980s, so I'll guess Rainbow, but that might be completely wrong.

OK, I'll have a couple of guesses at the remaining ones. "Seven Drunken Nights", I genuinely can't place at all, it doesn't even ring a vague bell. I'll guess at the Pogues, as it sounds like their sort of title. "Independent Love Song" I'm pretty sure was a solo female artist, but not one of the uber-famous ones. Suzanne Vega, maybe?

Independent Love Song is by a duo. Wouldn't be as famous as Suzanne Vega.

Yes. They did The Irish Rover together in 1987. Seven Drunken Nights was a Top 10 hit in Britain which surprised me a bit.
