it is. the most recent on the list. the artist has also had one of the biggest, if somewhat controversial, hits of this year.

Based on this clue for Savage, I’m going to say The Weekend?

Ella Fitzgerald?

Getting there, The singer in question was named after Ella by her jazz obsessed father. Her surname is a homophone of a month of the year.

Mr. Big Stuff is Jean Knight, an absolute classic of a song and very useful in pub pop quizzes. Everyone knows the song but few seem to know who sang it.

Can we have a clue for the last one please? I will take an ambitious stab with Raye?

Re: The Greatest Hits Quiz!

Postby HappyCamper

not raye. you may have a clue in the form of a cryptic crossword clue:

princess, having ditched horse for the drug 'horse', becomes an emcee. (5,4,8)

Any chance you could wait til this evening to do any kind of tiebreaker please?

Re: The Greatest Hits Quiz!

Postby HappyCamper

i have an idea for a tie break that's won't just be fasest finger first. and allows (requires) everyone to guess. which is probably better.

Re: The Greatest Hits Quiz!

Postby HappyCamper

as a tiebreak. contestants should select three records from the list, the winner will be those with the lowest aggregate peak position from the official uk singles chart. selecting a song that did not chart, or failing to submit a song before the deadline will be counted as one million. deadline will be start of play at the crucible on sunday 18th april 2021.

When you say lowest position, would a number one be highest or lowest?

Re: The Greatest Hits Quiz!

Postby Iranu

What are the albums? Are we allowed to look those up, or to look at the track listings?

Re: The Greatest Hits Quiz!

Postby HappyCamper

one would be lowest, because that is how numbers wok

it is based on singles chart. no albums.

Re: The Greatest Hits Quiz!

Postby Iranu

Oh, I see now.

I’ll go straight in with 4, 8 and 10.
