not nico. the artist was a belgian, singing in french.

Hmm. Jacques Brel? Not sure he was Belgian tbh.

And no. 6 I'll guess Belle & Sebastian, because they're the tweeest (spelling looks wrong on that, probably not a real word) band I can think of, and were definitely Scottish.

No guesses since Tuesday? Blimey.

OK, never a band that I took much notice of at the time, but I think Savage Garden were Australian. And definitely a duo. I think. Actually I'm not sure now. Better post this before I talk myself out of it completely.

exactly correct. from their eponymous debut album

i assume noone want to try their hand at the final one. it was the colorblind james experience. championed by the late john peel in the eighties.

final table, i'll let someone else do the maths.

1. summer in the city - the lovin' spoonful - james bentley
2. considering a move to memphis - the colorblind james experience - null
3. rotterdam (or anywhere) - the beautiful south - james bentley
4. babylon - david gray - james bentley
5. havana - camilla cabello - juddernaut88
6. piazza, new york catcher - belle and sebastian - james bentley
7. kashmir - led zeppelin - james bentley
8. amstedam - jacques brel - james bentley
9. walking in memphis - marc cohn - james bentley
10. santa monica - savage garden - james bentley

Wow James getting 8 correct that is superb stuff and a record :hatoff:
It would have been 9 as well but he was very sporting in letting me have number 5 due to the spelling.

I don't think I would have got Colorblind James Experience. I've heard of them, but just wouldn't have made the association.

Anyway, shall I say 1.00pm for the next set, to coincide with the start of today's coverage?

I’d be out if it was 1pm. I spend too much time posting on here while a match is in play, and end up quite disengaged from it. So I’m going to try and focus more on the bigger screen today.

But whatever suits the consensus <ok>

Thanks :-) You watch, I’ll probably not get any right now <laugh>

Re: The Greatest Hits Quiz!

Here we go then. Some tricky ones, but nothing outrageously obscure:

1. Windowlicker
2. I'm Waiting For The Man
3. I Am A Clown
4. Juice
5. Tightrope
6. Planet Earth
7. Seven Seas Of Rhye
8. I Walk The Earth
9. Black & White Rag
10. Since Yesterday

Re: The Greatest Hits Quiz!

I don’t think 6 really is Sigur Ross but I know BBC used one of their tracks for the Planet Earth doc. So it’s just a cheeky punt. But I think the track is actually called Hopipola or something.

Crap just realised that 30 seconds to mars song is called "from yesterday" so I've got that one wrong <doh>

Re: The Greatest Hits Quiz!

Postby James Bentley

I make it one each so far, with a caveat:

1. Windowlicker - Aphex Twin (Prop)
2. I'm Waiting For The Man
3. I Am A Clown
4. Juice - Lizzo (Juddernaut88)
5. Tightrope
6. Planet Earth
7. Seven Seas Of Rhye - Queen (Happycamper)
8. I Walk The Earth
9. Black & White Rag
10. Since Yesterday

I realise that the Stone Roses did have a song called "Tightrope", but it wasn't the one I was thinking of, which is by a female US soul-dance-hip-hop artist (but isn't Michelle Williams). Seems a bit unfair to disallow it though. What do we all think?
