7. Depeche Mode
I hesitate to go for the next one because I'd be surprised if you would set something so old, but hey, you never know, and it is the definitive version
1. Bobby Vinton

Well goddamn.
I do have a backup for no. 1 in that I know Lana del Rey did a cover version, maybe that's the one you want.
Empty At The End is maddeningly familiar as a title but I can't think who it is.

none of the tracks are covers afaik.
i did suspect that empty at the end would be the easiest, given the tastes and ages of the forum.

Blimey, you must be going waaaay back for Blue Velvet then, the Vinton version was a cover and that was early 1960s. Unless it's a completely different song also called Blue Velvet of course.
Anyway I'll leave this list for others I think!

I can’t even figure out the theme.
Blue Velvet is a David Lynch film. Best of Friends is from The Fox and the Hound. Knifey Spoony is either a Simpsons reference or a huge coincidence. But that’s not even a link, let alone the other 7.

the theme is to do with the artists, and something they all did between 2012 and 2018.

01) are a london based lo-fi band who met at notingham university. name is a period of a person's life.
02) were a london garage rock band nominated for the bbc sound of 2013 poll. name is a bit like a type of confectionary.
03) noise rock eight piece from essex, who got banned from latitude festival for misbehaviour. name is is a bit like a stupid mongolian warlord.
04) indie band from brighton. has already been answered!
05) were an indie pop group from bristol, who it seems once feature on made in chelsea. name is like geogrphical features.
06) were a garage rock group from chicago who disbanded following allegations of sexual misconduct by their frontman. name is like the assumed surname of an english political writer and novelist but pluralised and with a the.
07) were another london band, this time shoegazey. name is like a written record of an iconic north american dessert.
08) are indie group from madrid. they had to change their name due to a similar named band already existing and having lawyers. the names are animalistic and linked and either is acceptable. the original name is technically more relevent.
09) are a space rock group from halifax signed to heavenly records. the name sounds a bit like a type of bird found in baltimore.
10) indie rock group also from that there london. this song featured in the menu for a pro evo soccer game apparently. the name is like a large version of an astronomical object.
