The winning player is not British. The tournament was also not in Britain.

Neil Robertson vs Mark Selby China Open final 2013?
Neil won the final, I'm not certain on the score but I'm pretty sure he did lose a few finals that season.

This player had lost his last 6 ranking event finals. He would finally end a 2 and half year drought by clinching the title in a deciding frame against a player that has won multiple world titles.

Clue this tournament wasn't in the UK or Europe. The player that had lost 6 ranking event finals in a row is English. It's not Jimmy White lol. This is relatively recent. I won't give the year just yet.

The year was 2019. Hopefully this may help narrow things down.

Another clue it's a China tournament that Luca Brecel won 2 years prior to the match in question.

Because of Christmas arrangements, only now I can put a question, so apologies for that. Which 2 former world champions faced each other in the 1997 German Open and who was the winner?

The player who won is correct, but the opponent is not John Higgins, though.

I thought Williams as well. I’ll have a crack at Joe Johnson.
