Ranking final, one of the players was a world class player but now in his late 30s and not in his prime, his opponent was an upcoming young star that had won a few titles already.
The legend player in his late 30s would clinch the title which would prove to be his final ranking title.

Qualifier who had won the last 4 frames in the final qualifying round goes on to beat former World Champion by winning the last 5 frames in the second round thus gaining revenge for a defeat at same stage at The Crucible five years earlier.

Could this be Judd Trump vs Shaun Murphy 2013 quarter final think it was? I remember Judd being far behind and winning 13-12, the deciding frame may have been long but not sure if it was an hour.

2 players in there 40s meet in a big big final, one of them people had felt was past it but had a reasonable season, the other was still a force and maybe slight slight favourite.
The player that was deemed as past it would clinch victory.

The year is correct but not the tournament or players, the 2 players involved way more high profile :)
