Is it Steve Davis?
Ten years after winning his first world title at his first attempt, Griffiths once again reached the final of the WSC, for the last time, where he faced and lost to Steve Davis.

I like the logic, but you're on the wrong path.
Not Steve Davis

Well, it’s a bit ambiguous. T for Terry, X for ten, and I somehow then had T Rex in my head, which led me to Rex Williams

Yes, I looked at Declan Hughes, but then saw there's also Declan Murphy. And that would bring the surname into it as relevant?

Yes! Susan Murphy > Susan Boyle (X Factor)
Therefore: Xiao Guodong
(Not entirely serious, but it’s the only stab in the dark I’ve got)

None correct so far.
