Never Ending General Knowledge

Postby chengdufan

I think there's room on the Island for a sister quiz to Alex0Paul's outstanding Never Ending Quiz.

While that one is rightly focused on snooker trivia, how about we have one dedicated to general knowledge?

I'll start us off.
Which biscuit's slogan is 'A bonnie wee teatime treat'?

No idea.... probably some Scottish shortbread thing at a guess!

Same rules. Why not?

Scottish yes, but not shortbread. I picked up a pack of them from Metro yesterday. Haven't opened them yet.

Ooh, I love a good ginger nut. Not what I'm looking for though I'm afraid.
I have done you a disservice though D-C. I just had a closer look at the packet and they are indeed shortbreads! Sorry. I'm still looking for the name though.

Pink Wafer!

I haven't come across a pink wafer, but sounds yummy.

Keeping on biscuit theme, what's my favourite biscuit?

Well, still haven't had a correct answer to the first question yet (facepalm), but ok!

So the brand Griffin's was a clue, but they make a range of different biscuits. Final clue:
My biscuits double up as the name of a city

HendryFan? :chin:

Not Hendryfan biscuits, no. Though I'm sure they are a wee teatime treat.

I guess the marketing team at Griffin's need a better slogan, as no one seems to know it :-)

I thought SnookerFan would be all over this...

I don't think I've ever seen Griffin's biscuits in the shops.

I'll guess Dundee, as that's a city and Dundee cake is a thing.

Just to be clear on the clue. It's the name of a Scottish city :chin:

Well... This is embarrassing. I had a closer look at the packet and they are imported from New Zealand. So it was probably a bit much to expect anyone on here to have heard of them. I just assumed they were from Scotland :emb:

Anyway, over to HappyCamper for the next question. I'm sure he'll come up with a better one than me!!

Re: Never Ending General Knowledge

Lots of Scots ex-pats in NZ.

On the subject of Dundee, what are the so-called three Js that comprise her most famous exports?

Dunno what Jute is, to be honest :dizzy:

Correct. Jute is a durable plant fibre used to manufacture (eg) rope or sacks. Jam is a preserve made of fruit and sugar. And journalism is the reporting of news and current events.
