Magdalen College, Oxford are joint most time winners of the University Challenge quiz show with four triumphs, an honour they share with which two other institutions? The first is a red brick university, formed in it's current guise by the merger of previously existing institutions in a northern city in 2004. The other, in the south, was established by royal charter in 1907, and whose 2021/22 team are the current competition champions.

the unveristy of manchester in one. formed by a merger of the victoria university of manchester and the university of manchester institute of science and technology (UMIST). they won the series in 2006, 2009, 2012, and 2013.
not the college of corpus christi and the blessed virgin mary in the university of cambridge, established in 1352. they have never won, though were runners up in 2020 to the remaining answer.
not the university of leeds, given it's royal charter in 1904. they have never won the main series, but did win the christmas celebrity special with a team including the rev richard coles.
not the university of bristol, given it's royal charter in 1909. they have also never triumphed.

not university college london, who surprisingly have never won. but were runners up in 2013.
McManusFan wrote:SOAS?
not the school school of oriental and african studies. they have entered on a few occasions but given their specialisation tend to be somewhat hamstrung in lacking the required breadth of knowledge.
Prop wrote:Imperial?
correct. it is imperial college london. having won two of the last three series, to add to their 1996 and 2001 victories.
fittingly this means we have a tie. prop and lds will need to collaborate on setting the next question.
