Just a small question, cos rankings do not interest me very much at all, BUT how many matches potentially does Gouldy have to win at the Crucible to make the top 16.....?

In fact, is it possible for him to make the top 16 by end of season....?

as you can now see he is currently 2,240 points off the top 16.

He has the PTC Finals, China Open and World Championship left this season so its not just a case of what he needs to do in Sheffield to make the top 16, Dublin and Peking will be equally important.

He has a potential 2,160 (PTC) + 5,040 (China) + 7,200 (WC) = 14,400 points to try and grab this season so of course he will need some good runs as those around him also have points to pick up at these events, especially those seeded players currently in danger who will get larger R1 win points.

plus remember theres players still involved in the PTC Finals and China Open before the WC, infact theres 10,000 ranking points up for grabs between these 2 events (the same as the WC) so any players who take the foot off and concentrate on the WC will get caught out in the rankings scramble.

god almighty ronnie o sullivan number 10 is there a danger he will be out of the elite for the start of next season if he doesnt win another match this season ? not sure if he playing in the ptc and he never gives a flying buck about china so it could be a possibility perhaps ?

Yeh that could happen and if not then he will lose his Shanghai winners points from 09/10 at the start of next season so hes gonna be dropping out of the top 16 early next season i predict, infact his situation will be so grim he will prob have to play all the early PTC events if he realistically wants to stay in the top 16, whether he bothers to or not will tell us what he thinks about his snooker career and future.

Of course, a look at this may motivate him to silence his critics and win the WC this year and suddenly turn around his worst ever season and protect his place in the elite for a good bit longer.

in that case providing he doesnt play the ptc event and loses early in china it will be very very interesting to see how he performs in the first round at the crucible where he will need to win to stay in the top sixteen

imagine if he play someone like day that will be very intriguing watching that match under the circumstances

yeh even i might have to leave the bar and bookies area at the Crucible to head in and watch that one and booooo Day if required

whats the latest situation now after the final few qualifying results ?

the wonderkid is in a false position regarding hendry hes played in both the china open and World championship Hendry hasent

Hendrys the one in a false lofty position - the reality is Trumps 6th on this seasons list whilst Hendry is around 40th, plus next season Hendry has twice as many points to lose as Trump so hes clinging onto Trumps coat tails for dear life but will soon be left in the wake of Trump who bounds well into the top 16 and towards the top 6 or 8 whilst Hendry struggles to stay top 32 next season.

by my reckoning both martin gould and stephen lee now move above stephen hendry who move down from 19 to 21
