What do you expect under the new ranking rules? It does make buying tickets a pain. Still, that's as much as you usually used to get anyway. You used to only know half the match until the week before The Crucible first rounds.
Nothing to do with new ranking rules. It's just the the qualifs are yet to be played.

yes they could actually play the qualifiers next week in fact but i think playing qualifiers AFTER the latest tournaments is better.
there's 3 days between end of qualifiers to the start of the Welsh Open...

It's better then nothing. It's the best they can do. I'd prefer that to what they are doing at The Crucible this year, going; "Buy a ticket, we'll tell you what the match is in three months."
At least you can tell which top-16 players you like are playing this way, and you get a choice between two tables sit where you like, so if you really hate one match, you can sit on another.

I wish I was going up to more days other then just Monday and Tuesday. I really enjoyed my trip to Newport last time. Pity about the best of sevens instead of 9s, as well. But I am sure I will get used to it.

If you're lucky, you won't still be living with them at 30, like I am.

You can usually watch it over the BBC Website though, can't you? I remember a couple of years back, I didn't have BBC Wales, but I watched most of it via the website.

I didn't watch much of it last season, for some reason. It was on a week or so after The Master's finished. For some reason it was a tournament I just wasn't up for. I never did know why.
But, I must say, I do like the Welsh Open. I'm one of the few. I sincerely hope it's not the last time they run it.
