SHEFFIELD - CITY OF SNOOKER

SHEFFIELD will become the capital city of snooker - and the World Championships stay at The Crucible Theatre untiil 2015 at least.

The announcement was made earlier today and carries the added bonus of the all PTC Events being stages in the Steel City at the Academy of Snooker. In addition all ranking event qualifiers will be held at the Academy.

Spelling out the ambitions for the game Barry Hearn, Chairman of World Snooker said there would be opportunity for all over the world to come over and acheieve their dreams.

"Sheffield is the city of snooker. We have a home in the same way that Wimbledon is the home of tennis"
