I can't see Higgins losing in round 1. I'll be astounded if it happened but stranger things have happened. Put it this way, Hawkins will need a 7-2 session 1 lead to stand any chance.

Yeh but you're talking about John Higgins at the end of the day, no fluke that Hawkins is still yet to make an impact in Sheffield, he's found his level and it's a long way behind the top guys.

Hey this topic's open after 17days locked lol
yes really looking forward to the World now.
the matches of the 1st round for me has to be the following
Ronnie O'sullivan v Liang Wenbo
Mark Selby v Ken Doherty
Allister Carter v Jamie Cope
I think any of these matches could go the other way, but most likely seeds will prevail

Looks like a Round 1 or Quarter Final exit for Mark Williams;
Since 98 the winner of the penultimate event has done the following at the WC;
1999 - Fergal O'Brien lost R1 10-4 to Drago
2000 - Ronnie O'Sullivan lost R1 10-9 to David Gray
2001 - Peter Ebdon lost QF 13-6 to Ronnie O'Sullivan
2002 - Stephen Lee lost QF 13-11 to Ronnie O'Sullivan
2003 - David Gray Did not Qualify
2004 - Jimmy White lost R1 10-8 to Barry Pinches
2005 - Ding Junhui Did not Qualify
2006 - Mark Williams lost QF 13-11 to Ronnie O'Sullivan
2007 - Graeme Dott lost R1 10-7 to Ian McCulloch
2008 - Stephen Maguire lost QF 13-12 to Joe Perry
2009 - Peter Ebdon lost R1 10-5 to Nigel Bond
