After watching matthew's matches this week i have to say im as optimistic as i have been in a few years about the form of the welsh dragon.
He fought hard to beat murphy including an excellent clearance in the decider and made 2 centuries against allen who played out of his skin to win that match.
So at 32 who thinks stevens will still win a world title ?

No chance. Just imagine if for example he found himself in the 1 table situation again (which I very much doubt he will). Far too many demons.

Matthew Stevens missed the boat in 2000, 2005 & 2007. Should have won his semi-final in 2002, and again in 2004.
He's my favourite player, but the man has too many bad memories at the Crucible to win now.

He would shock me by being at the Worlds given the pressure he will be under to qualify

Save your money. Joe Perry is a better bet for an outsider

Campbell who beats Trump as a party piece.
Stevens will do well to qualify and then will be cannon-fodder if he does qualify, give it up.

I agree. It would be hard enough for him to get back to his best form but overcomming his demons would be even harder.

No, his priorities have to be merely qualifying for the tournament let alone winning it, too many good players ahead of him. 2005 was his time, maybe winning that could have had the floodgate effect, but he missed it.
