Sonny wrote:I know what you're saying, but in reality it's not viable. You can't say the top 24 progress and then let the 25th in at last minute so he can bag himself a load of ranking points. What if say someone is high up the rankings and their mate is 25th in the list and also 17th on the rankings list and then they withdraw?

It's top 24, if there's a bye there's a bye and the player who is still in progresses. That's the only way it can work.

well in that case you dont award Ranking Points but you fill up a void in the Draw and award Cash.

in Tennis theres a Lucky Loser i dont agree at all with that you loose your not in the event.

Gerard Greene and Joe Jogia isnt in the top 24 either .

John Higgins and Ding Junhui was actually IN the top 24 but Jogia and Greene was next in Line.

Well, who then? Because in rankers those who are not playing in last 32 all lost in qualifs at some point.

Mags pulls out of the PTC event. From the World Snooker website;

The World No 6 from Glasgow was due to play Stuart Bingham in the first round of the tournament at The Helix in Dublin on Wednesday evening.

But the former UK Champion has withdrawn to be with wife Sharon for the new arrival. The couple already have a son called Finn and a daughter called Faith.

Essex cueman Bingham gets a bye to the last 16 of the new event, which finishes on Sunday.

This message is dedicated to Monique, who always says we don't flag it up when somebody other then Ronnie pulls out. <ok>

Monique has arrived in Dublin and got the news already ... ;)
Mags has the best of reasons to stay home and good on him that he does.
The immediate consequence is that father-to-be Mr Ballrun expressed his delight with a "hurray for Babies!!!" on twitter and that Ricky Walden vs Liang Wenbo is shifted in the evening (last match of the day)

Believe it or not he had 6 children, 3 pairs of twins. When the numbers 5 and 6 were born one colleague exclaimed "Now François, I can't believe this! What are you doing there old boy?" and François answered "N n n n nott s s sure ... I prob bb b bably st st stut stuttered as usual ... "

Six kids. bucking hell. That's quite a feat for somebody who isn't a smooth talker, by all accounts.

"D-d-do you c-c-c-c-come here of-of-often?" <laugh>

Hey people! Long time no talk, again :-(

Anyway, I'm just popping in here because (from tomorrow anyway) this is being held at The Helix, which is part of Dublin City University, which is yours truly goes to university <cool> <laugh>

I'm just back from doing a bit of stalking/looking around :john: I saw Ken Doherty out in the main area, I was going to go over and ask for an autograph, but he went into another room we weren't allowed into. I assume it was a practice room or something because he had his cue with him.

Then we sat down to see if anyone else would show up <laugh> And we could see that picture/ collage thing that does be on the walls when the players walk out into the arena, so we snuck in there, and it was the main arena. Mark Allen was there talking to some people. I would have gone over but we weren't sure if we were meant to be there at all, cause someone kinda looked at us so we didn't risk it!

I'm going to have another look tomorrow, I'm finished early so I hope I bump into someone :D

... I have to ask, is Matthew Stevens playing at this?

You lucky cow, I wish they'd played at my university. <laugh> I did buck all revising when there was snooker on. I hope you meet some players you like. Don't worry about asking four autographs, most of them are quite friendly. :D
