Of these players, only Rovin D'Souza has entered the 2nd tournament which starts with group matches tomorrow in Pune at the Hindu Gymkhana (there were qualifying matches today). One of India's top female players, Arantxa Sanchis, has entered the second competition.

Event 3 at the Malabar Hill Club, Mumbai

A couple of surprise Last 16 results as Event 2 winner Rovin D’Souza lost 3-2 to Zubin Leninwala and local player Nikhil Ghadge beat Vishal Vaya 3-2, fighting back from 2-0 down.

Edit: Just noting that 10 year old Kreishh Gurbaxani seems to have made a bit of an impression in the qualifying for this (whilst skipping school!), reaching the final qualifying round. He's the son of Indian film actor Sanjay Gurbaxani and is being trained by ex-pro and twice Asian Champion Yasin Merchant.
