my understanding is it changes when the corresponding tournament of 2008/2009 are replaced by points of 2010/2012 apart from EPTC 2 Obviously

shangai 2008>shanghai 2010
GP 2008>WO 2010
UK 2008>UK 2010
Welsh 2009>welsh 2011
China 2009>China 2011
World 2009>world 2011

Im pretty sure thats not right?

As i understand it, the official rankings change after every single event, be it a full ranker or a PTC/EPTC but of course as we know theres only a few points where theres cut off points where the seedings change.

you was right the "OFFICIAL" Ranking changes after Every Tournament however until the Corresponding tournament of 2008/2009 comes around no points are taken off so the remaining PTC Points will be piling on the Official Ranking of Players and then after the UK The Points for 2008 UK and Barhain 2008 are taken off the "OFFICIAL" List.

Matt has already done that for us though http://prosnookerblog.com/rankings/2010 ... -rankings/

Ding who will be 8th Rank Player Regarding Seeding is in fact Officially 5th Rank Player http://www.worldsnooker.com/official.htm

I wasn't comparing them Sophie, I just didn't know how their points were being worked out. I'm a fan of both of them <ok>

indeed. And could well be 9th before the UK if, as I expect, he gives the 2 remaining EPTCs a miss. You can't earn ranking points when you don't play ...

This Season John Higgins has missed 12 Events that carries Ranking Points potentially 34,000 Ranking Points and after his first event back he is back up to provisional no 2 only 4,000 points behind the WN1 for the next cut off point.

its a slightly false position given the points that will be due to come off soon.

I know some might argue that theres no such thing as a false position in these "rolling" rankings but until we get proper true rolling rankings after each event in place, there will always be cases of players who will suddenly rise or drop down the rankings at the start of a new cut off point, just like there was in the days of the old rankings when a season ended and the new one year / provisional list kicked in.

Ive been looking at Trumps ranking and he is due to rise up the rankings and possibly into the top16 if he just manages to keep on qualifying for venues.

its not a false position its fact thats his Provisional Ranking at the Moment you cant start to think ahead if he wins the UK and World that statement you just put out is irrelevant you could go down each and every Ranking Position and say this false and that false

The Points coming off before the Next Cut Off 2009 Welsh Open are http://prosnookerblog.com/rankings/poin ... ion-three/

in that Robbo has 1,300 more points than John to come off

Steve Davis will have to Get past Ali Carter and Reach the Last 16 minimum at the UK to stand any hope of staying in the Top 32 and even then other results has to go his way.

how the heck does that work, have the WPSBA ballsed up, ive been following Matts PSB rankings from event to event and King hasnt dropped out of the top 16? :chin:

They change the Rankings after every PTC or Ranking tournament however on Matts Blog 2008 UK Points been deducted...... on the Official Rankings its not deducted until after the UK.

Re: Latest Provisional Rankings Discussion Topic

Matthew Stevens at this moment in Time is Officially 16th in the World and Provisional no 23.

Reason for that is Because Points for barhain 2008 and UK 2008 will be deducted after the UK. he reached Barhain final <ok>

yeh i get you now mate.

It was the way you wrote it, i misinterpreted it as meaning that Stevens was automatically qualifying for the UK Championships now he was "in" the top 16.

Its slightly misleading to be honest isnt it, there confusing things by doing this ranking list i feel, if they want to go to truly proper rolling rankings though, this would be the exact list we would need.

Finally, Mark Selby passes the freakish set of results that made his true ranking way off his official ranking. Top 5 and climbing and within touching distance of the top 3 where he belongs. This link is the official provisional cut after the UK btw.

Marco Fu at 19 :scared:

All respect to him, but he hit his worst spell of form ever 2 years ago and got lucky with his ranking points. Rolling rankings has found that out.

but whats good is with a good run you back inside where you just left in 2 tournament time.

Just Look at Ebdon he was out of the top 16 looking at 7 tournament to qualify for now hes no 11 and in the masters.

its a great system that rewards form straight away. <ok>
