:( Not much hope on the 'Order of Merit' either I guess. Shame.

Still proved himself this year as one of the best amatuers around, hopefully can get some good runs in the PTCs next year

Re: Q School 2012

Postby Roland

Yep that'll be the focus. He's got more experience behind him but I tell you what, surely it doesn't help a player to always have to play in bloody best of 7s. So hard to settle into a rhythm and play well.

Re: Q School 2012

Postby Cheesyman99

Yeah I was gonna say, it's ridiculous that matches that can change people's lives and have such great importance be played over the same amount of frames as a pro-am. There's no TV audiences to satisfy, there's no reason not to have it longer. If you're down 2-1 and you win the frame it's 2-2 and your level, lose it and suddenly you have to play mistake free for the rest of the game. A joke.

Re: Q School 2012

Postby Roland

I agree it's a bit of a joke having Q School all best of 7 especially given the importance of the event. Best of 9s would take longer though obviously but as you say, every frame you lose or go behind in a best of 7 piles the pressure on.

i think Witz has it

instead of it being cut throat 3 chances Play it as 3 individual Events with semis and Finals thrown in and Rank Players acording to Rounds they Reach so every Player playing in all 3 events and the Top 12 on the order of merit Getting a Tour Card.

Re: Q School 2012

Postby Monique

I think one of the problems is that the level of the players in those events are very different. Some are really not up to the marks and when drawn against each other, even 7 frames take nearly 4 hours. With longer matches it might become even more difficult to stay on schedule.
Maybe only the draw for event one should be made ahead of the Q-School run. Then the draw for the other events, could be made just before they happen with a form of seeding. This would allow to avoid the multiple walk-overs and would at least guarantee that those who did well in the previous event(s) are not meant to play each other early on.

This is it then Final 2 Days of Q School with only 43 players left and by the end of today we will be down to only 16 men fighting it out for 4 spots as Profesionals.

Wild, can you give a list of the players who have won a tour card so far?

Thanks

Re: Q School 2012

Postby roy142857

Real shame about Gaz.

By my reckoning that leaves only 2 players who have reached the 3rd round of all 3 Q School events, Jordan Brown and Duane Jones. Ashley Wright can join them this afternoon. Find that low number a little surprising ...

Only 2 players ended up frameless over the 3 events as far as I can see (and one of those missed the 2nd event).

So close in the final frame between David Gray and Mitchell Mann... handful of points in it at the moment

Really surprised Jamie Barrett went down 0 - 4 to Saqib Nasir.

Ashley Wright now the third player to have made the 3rd round in each Q School event, and Robbie Williams through too.

Re: Q School 2012

Postby roy142857

OK, so some order of merit updates (ignoring the 2 3rd round matches though), firstly without crediting any frames for walkovers:

Jordan Brown 39
Scott Donaldson (OUT) 33
Michael Wasley 32
Ashley Wright 31
Ryan Causton 30 (FD 8)
Gareth Allen (OUT) 30 (FD 8)
Michael Wild 28
Rod Lawler 27 (FD 13)
Nick Jennings (OUT) 27 (FD 5)
Adrian Ridley (OUT) 27 (FD 5)
Gary Wilson (OUT) 26 (FD 10)
Jeff Cundy 26 (FD 8)
Greg Batten (OUT) 25
Duane Jones 24 (FD 13)
Ben Harrison (OUT) 24 (FD 7)
Marc Robertson 23
Joel Walker 22
David Gray (OUT) 21 (FD 6)
Fraser Patrick 21 (FD 2)
Adrian Gunnell 20

... and the players who are still in but further back ...
Allan Taylor 19, Adam Wicheard 19, Joe Delaney 18, Li Hang 18, Robbie Williams 18, Lucky Vatnani 18, Justin Astley 17, Lee Spick 16, Rhys Clark 16, James Cahill 16, Saqib Nasir 16, Lee Page 15, Mitchell Travis 13, John Sutton 12, Mitchell Mann 12, Habib Subah 12, Richard King 10, Josh Boileau 8

And Order of Merit with a credit of frames for each walkover. This time I've treated them as 4-3 wins from the point of view of frame difference. Players whose positions change notably are especially Duane Jones and Adrian Gunnell, also Gareth Allen and Joel Walker:

Jordan Brown 39
Scott Donaldson (OUT) 37
Gareth Allen (OUT) 34 (FD 12)
Michael Wasley 32
Ashley Wright 31
Ryan Causton 30 (FD 8)
Duane Jones 28 (FD 14)
Adrian Gunnell 28 (FD 11)
Michael Wild 28 (FD 10)
Rod Lawler 27 (FD 13)
Nick Jennings (OUT) 27 (FD 5)
Adrian Ridley (OUT) 27 (FD 5)
Gary Wilson (OUT) 26 (FD 10)
Joel Walker 26 (FD 9)
Jeff Cundy 26 (FD 8)
Greg Batten (OUT) 25
Fraser Patrick 25 (FD 3)
Ben Harrison (OUT) 24 (FD 7)
Allan Taylor 23 (FD 8)
Marc Robertson 23 (FD 7)

... and the players who are still in but further back ...
Li Hang 22, Jamie Barrett 22, Robbie Williams 22, Lucky Vatnani 22, Lee Spick 20, James Cahill 20, Adam Wicheard 19, Joe Delaney 18, Justin Astley 17, John Sutton 16, Mitchell Mann 16, Rhys Clark 16, Habib Subah 16, Saqib Nasir 16, Lee Page 15, Mitchell Travis 13, Josh Boileau 12, Richard King 10

Hopefully the above is at least reasonably accurate, no time to double check figures at the moment!
